Possible Features of Apple iPad 2

Possible Features of Apple iPad 2

March 2 will be a big day for Apple, as the company is going to introduce its second-generation tablet device. The new Apple device will pose a challenge to the Motorola Xoom that has just hit store shelves.
The Xoom as well as other Android tablets aim to break the headlock of iPad in the consumer tablet market. The Motorola’s tablet is based on Android Honeycomb, which is optimized for tablets. It comes with a 10.1-inch screen. The tablet boasts of rear- and front-facing cameras. It is offered with 32MB of memory and packs in the Tegra 2 dual-core processor of Nvidia. It looks like Xoom is targeted at the market segments, which is now occupied by the iPad.
It would be right to say that Apple is not considered to be a company that takes challenges lightly. According to reports, the iPad 2 will feature a range of features that will help the tablet be on top of the market.
According to numerous rumors, Apple is going to integrate rear- and front-facing cameras into the iPad 2. This move will help Apple blunt competition form other tablet devices that feature a dual-camera setup. iPad users will be able to use the FaceTime video-conferencing application that is already integrated into the iPhone Touch and iPhone.
Apple also likes thin things. All Apple devices are light and sleek. The next iPad will not be an exception, it will be available in a thinner body as well as retooled bezels.
Nowadays many tablets are becoming more powerful due to upgraded processors. It is expected that Apple will offer a new tablet with an upgraded processor. Moreover, it has been speculated that the iPad 2 will come without the home button. It means that users will have to use new multi-touch gestures in order to navigate the home screen. The company is focused on a minimalistic design. It is a concept that can be put in the realm of possibility.

Behind the Scenes of the Microsoft-Nokia Partnership

Behind the Scenes of the Microsoft-Nokia Partnership
 Microsoft-Nokia-Partnership
Just look at the recently announced Nokia-Microsoft partnership. It turned out that it used to be a triangle, with Google in the mix.
Nokia first contemplated on inking a deal with Google before it announced its partnership with Nokia. Nokia CEO Stephen Elop was in talks with both Google and Microsoft when he finally decided to go with the latter, which was his former employee.
Microsoft agreed to pay billions of dollars to Nokia for marketing and developing Windows Phone 7 handsets. But the deal almost didn’t push through because Nokia executives thought that Microsoft is treating them like any other potential phone partner, while Nokia was looking for an exclusive software partner.
Then Microsoft CEO Ballmer was reminded that if Nokia inks a deal with Google, Microsoft will have no way to get its share in the smartphone market.
Because of that Microsoft went ahead and sent their proposal with Nokia, which the latter agreed with and they signed the contract before Nokia’s investor conference. It was during the conference when Elop announced the deal.
But before the partnership was made public, Vic Gundotra, Google vice president, posted a Twitter message that said two turkeys don’t make an eagle. This jab surprised Nokia executives when the conversations between companies had to be confidential.
Three days after the two turkeys announced their union. It looks like the Google executive’s prediction was right. After the announcement, both Nokia and Microsoft stocks went down. Nokia was down by more than 15 percent while Microsoft shares were down 2 percent. It looks like the investors didn’t see an eagle with the deal as well.

Video game sales slump Video game sales slump

Video game sales slump Video game sales slump
It would seem the new year has not brought good tidings for the games industry. Their biggest market, the US saw a slump in its sales this month.
The NPD group say that stores sold $1.14bn worth of games over the first month of 2012, a 34% slump from the previous year. Hardware sales are also down by 38%. It comes as no surprise. Whether you play Party Pokeron a PC or Just Dance on the Wii, post-Christmas will always be a difficult sales period.
However the sales slump does not normally include the games industry. Consumer data suggests that the drop is due to a complete lack of major new releases in this month. However Liam Callaham of NPD pointed out, that games released in the last three months of 2011 did not perform well in sales either.
Other analysts are keen to remind us that the economy is fresh on consumer minds. Therefore this might have been a contributing factor, that could very well impact the launch of Sony’s brand new console, PlayStation Vita.
The drop isn’t just in the US though. IGN has stated a similar sales drop has occurred in the UK too. Japan and Europe have also seen a figure drop.
It isn’t all bad though. Microsoft’s Xbox 360 held the title for top selling hardware platform. The console has been at the top for 6 months now. Meanwhile Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 was the best selling game title this month, followed closely by Just Dance 3, NBA 2K12 and Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.
So it looks as though Sony will have its work cut out with the launch of PlayStation Vita. The console goes on sale across Europe, America and Australia on 22 February.

Google X reveals "Project Glass", an augmented reality visor

We've all seen what happens when technology becomes portable and connected to everything around us -- we get fatally bad driving and people walking into water fountains -- but what if your smartphone could be a visor, glasses or even a pair of contact lenses? This is what Google has been researching and no, it's definitely not an April Fool's joke.

"Project Glass" is a blue-sky project by Google's mysterious research and development arm, Google X. The project aims to augment your everyday experiences by superimposing a layer of visual indicators directly onto your field of vision. The HUD-like apparatus would keep you connected to your friends, provide data about your surroundings and potentially do anything your smartphone can do, but merely at a glance. This visual layer would be fed to your eyes through some device like a visor or contact lenses, giving you translucent alerts, messages, maps and more.

These types of projects tend to be hush-hush, top-secret stuff, but Google claims it wants the public's input on what they would like to see with such technology.

We think technology should work for you -- to be there when you need it and get out of your way when you don’t.

A group of us from Google[x] started Project Glass to build this kind of technology, one that helps you explore and share your world, putting you back in the moment. We’re sharing this information now because we want to start a conversation and learn from your valuable input. So we took a few design photos to show what this technology could look like and created a video to demonstrate what it might enable you to do.

Please follow along as we share some of our ideas and stories. We’d love to hear yours, too. What would you like to see from Project Glass?

Source: Project Glass, Google+
Eerily reminiscent of Caprica's "holoband" emitter, Google's concept of what the final design may look like shows a visor-like device hovering over the brow-lines of people more symmetrical than most. It sounds like science fiction, but there's no reason it has to be a visor though -- and you probably won't have to be a model to wear it. In fact, Project Glass team member Barbak Parviz, has been working on contact lenses which may be able to accomplish the same thing.
